ABOUT PAINT PROTECTION FILM
PPF, also referred to as Clear/Invisible Bra, is a self-healing thermoplastic urethane film that is transparent and protects a new or used car’s paint job from different types of damage.
Paint Protection Film (PPF) is becoming more and more popular among both regular drivers and car enthusiasts. PPF covers the vehicle’s painted surfaces to create a strong, imperceptible shield.
Not many people know this BUT, PPF was originally developed for military use in Vietnam War. It was applied to the helicopter rotor blades to protect the key components from the damage caused by all the debris. The use of PPF gradually transitioned to Civil use and the manufacturers adapted PPF for vehicles in the 1980s.
PPF is the ultimate protection for your vehicle and here is why:
- Protects your car from rock chips and scratches
Our roads aren’t exactly kind to our vehicle’s paint. There are small rocks, pebbles and miscellaneous debris that can easily scratch and damage a vehicle’s paint. This is where PPF comes into play, it acts as a robust barrier between your vehicle and the unforgiving roads.
- Provides ultimate UV protection and Hydrophobic properties
Australia is the land of extremes as it presents very hot summers with harsh UV rays as well as intense rainfalls in some parts of the country. These UV rays cause our vehicle’s paint to fade and oxidise no matter what brand of vehicle it is. PPF shields our cars from these harsh UV rays, tree sap, or any corrosive substances and protects the car’s original paint colour.
PPF also has Hydrophobics properties, which means that it repels water and prevents water spots providing an easy washing.
- Self-Healing Properties
Modern PPF is designed with self healing properties. Small scratches and swirl marks that present on the film from everyday use, tend to dissipate with the increase in temperature by simply parking the vehicle in the sun. Therefore, the car will remain polished and clear of swirl marks.
- Enhances resale value
Most car owners view their vehicles as significant investments and desire to maintain the resale value as much as possible because the reality is most of the vehicles depreciate over time and factors such as paint damage and exterior wear can significantly reduce the resale value. Scratches, dings, faded paint and other forms of exterior damage are all too common, particularly for cars driven in harsh conditions or busy urban environments.
PPF can help preserve the aesthetic condition of your vehicle thus maintaining its value. A well-maintained car fetches a higher resale price. By preserving your vehicle’s exterior, PPF inadvertently boosts its resale value, ensuring you get a good return on your investment.
